Book Cut Sculptures
These days you can create art with almost anything and it is interesting to see which are the "new" media used by artists to create works of art.
A clear example of this is His Blackwell who created these stunning works of art by cutting the leaves of books, His says that his works can be seen as metaphors for language, which is ephemeral and powerful.
The style of the sculpture is very similar to that used in some books of short stories that turn the pages "jump" the images to be raised and so give the reader a clearer idea of a scene, these books remind me of a work we do at the U last year, really admire because they do something so its is hard work and patience.
