Graffiti in Guatemala
Currently in Guatemala is growing increasingly moving Graffiti and Urban Art, there are always those who support this type of art but as elsewhere, there are those who decide to "fight" against those who just want to give life to the city streets, regardless of the country, continent or city.
Today there are quite a few crews in the country, there are also those who choose to remain alone and paint on their own, the important thing is to make the movement grow, many are devoted to single tagger or sign, others decide to paint only in legal places and most prefer to create a balance between legal and illegal, because the essence of this art lies in the illegality.
Unfortunately here, and I think in many other places, even graffiti associated with gangs rather, a clear example of this is a short documentary that recently conducted Noti7, a newscast, where editing of this was a crucial part to leave quite confused everyone with the same image that graffiti is a gang member.
The documentary shows some of that if you really are part of the artistic movement, the bad is that the images of pieces and interviews with them were mixed with pictures of gang graffiti, which left us with a bad taste all that are part of the real graff community.
This is the story of Noti7 video, judge for yourself:
As I said earlier, some people if they support this type of art and are not afraid to be different, a few weeks two crews in the country, and EKS GuateGraff, were interviewed during the Painted Labyrinth, located in the Cultural District 4 degrees north to make a small documentary of graffiti, this time we are not associated with gangs or anything like that.
This was done by students at the Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala, whom we thank for generating this type of material that discloses the true face of national graffiti.
This video is the story of students:
I think the difference is quite noticeable, I stay with the second, but I wonder who do you think of this no matter if they are Guatemalan or foreign, in your town happens something similar? How is the situation of graff in your country, I want to hear your comments ![]()

ahuevo for the second one near ...!
that eggs already in the epoch we live in and still not know a good graff distinguishes a whore look of a gang member! and that upsets me every time I talk about graff is not because their first thought is in gangs fucking nothing to do !!!!!!
truth is not achieved when people understand this lifestyle and art! which many want to grow up here in Guatemala and the best is that it is growing!
so keep decorating the streets !!!!!
