On why the Japanese are one step ahead
This is an article in which I have been thinking the past few months, since I read an article quite interesting about some form of graffiti on trains legal in Japan, made by children, and recently by other speakers in decoration of the subway lines in the same country.
After lengthy but entertaining read these texts, I thought about why the Japanese seem to always stay one step ahead in many ways, in terms of design, art and technology mostly, without much reflection, I think the answer is that they to see a problem they see an opportunity, not see it as something bad, but as something that can be leveraged to create something good.
Otherwise I believe happens in many parts of the world, the problems only advantage to create more problems, not create solutions and something good comes out of this.
In the first article, comment on them at first, talk about a contest that took place last year was to bring together designs made by children, that would be used to "embellish" the trains of Line Odakyu: the only they asked the contestants had to draw what they would like to see on the trains.
All this took place to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the line, and finally choose only two designs to be stamped on the sides of trains, they say was a difficult job, because in just two months' notice had already been collected more than 2000 designs.
The end result is incredible, it seems that penetrated by young graffiti artists to paint the night trains
while one of the winners reflected the fun of train travel with others, the second illustrating various scenes around the station Ebina.

Finally in this competition no one lost, because all remaining proposals were placed within the carriages of the train, pretty good how to promote that everyone wins and nobody loses ![]()

In the second article talks about the decoration of the underground train stops, illustrating the graphic nature in various forms, from tiles to print, which spread throughout the room to get another face these scenarios.

The topics include the seasons, the seasons around and infect people with a bit of Allergy and fun, all this to make passengers feel at home and forget for a moment of monotony and routine the lives of many.

And the truth is that he would not feel comfortable seeing every day so colorful stalls that have come to be raped by the visual pollution created by all this bad publicity that abounds in every city in the world.
You see the Japanese saw a problem and solved in a masterly manner, creating something good from the evil that was in place, if only everyone thought so, the world would be a little better right?

With all that I want to get that graffiti could go from being a "problem" for cities to be a good and great solution, trains could be painted, clear legally because when illegally painted, with all respect , are monstrosities, and few people if they make a quality piece.
The stations could be painted too, to break with the greyish tone as only highlights the publicity, I think this would end the illegal paint trains and stops them, and everything would look better, and would result in something that you like people and graff writers themselves.
And so that everyone can paint, the pieces could be for a period of time in a month, and so renew any monthly, so that either the thing is so boring
but well that's my point of view and I know not all think alike and therefore respect the views of each, so for me this is why the Japanese are always one step ahead than us and you what do think about it?
Indeed, as I like to see it could do something like this in the Transmetro ![]()

very interesting post you would be good if you could do a test on the Transmetro then ...
