The Splash

In the last true character has become famous in the streets of New York, the birthplace of graffiti and urban art, called by the media as "The Splash", since that is his "signature" at the scene of the facts.

What has made him famous has this peculiar character is that he has been engaged in some form of mock several works of urban artists who are on the streets of NY, lately it has in parts of the famous artist better known as Shepard Fairey OBEY .

This person or persons are on the streets throwing "bombs" of paint on the parts of artists who allegedly criticized for having "sold out" and today are world famous, which has led investigators to this conclusion is that each piece bombed leave something written like "Destroy the museums, streets and everywhere," so that it reads like a strong critique of the commercialization of art.

The last thing we know is that apparently it is not just one person because apparently recently Splashers group said they would give information to the media about them and why of what they do for the moment the authorities have a suspect who was arrested during a recent exhibition that took OBEY.

What is clear is that this or these Splashers are living their 15 minutes of fame, because since the first attacks began to write notes about them throughout the network, and recently even the NY Times, is just waiting a little more to see what happens with this situation.

Flâneur

I have recently tried to publish items "unprecedented" because I want to make news in other parts, does not really do "copy & paste" because I do not 'stealing' the words of others, but I like the idea of publishing things that I have not seen elsewhere.

Today I make an exception because it is something that left me impressed when I saw it, this is a video I saw today, which is a sign over the street art has no limits and that creativity and imagination artists is incredible in the video using one of the most known in the street art scene, the "wheatpastes", propagated, posters or whatever you call them, and making good use of stop motion, created this little video where the character the poster becomes "life", but better still they are no longer counting and better see the movie yourself ;)

This video was created by Gould in collaboration with Bronco, Evol (CTink), Kowalski and others but it is a bit short but it is a jewel : D

Rene Gagnon

Some may know this great graffiti artist named Rene Gagnon, for his latest collaboration with the Wooster Collective and may also know only the mural he painted for the occasion, but this artist is one of those who have more recently attracted attention graff scene in New York.

Rene Gagnon defines himself as a graffiti artist of post-abstract expressionist, and is that really this artist is not only "specialist" urban art, but also uses techniques from other art movements in history.

The public yesterday on its website a few pictures of his latest creation, which was made with stencils and reminds us of a rather famous in the world of Renaissance art , as well as a great artist named Miguel Angel ; As I mentioned, this artist tries to mix all the movements in art history.

Here is the images of his recent work, which is selling for $ 250, and has created only 100 pieces and 4 versions, images can also be seen that could not resist to paint the piece in Street : D

Broken Link, image is missing

Very interesting and sensational, this idea of Niko and Andrea, who rightly took these white posters on the streets of NY to create some street art geek : P

Niko and Andrea have been hitting several stickers on those annoying and ugly posters NY, to simulate the image is lost, as sometimes we can see in your browser <Use Firefox or Flock ;) > When an image does not appear.

This idea proves once more that it is also able to create art geek : D

Old School Flicks, NY 1983

A few days ago we recommend a set of photos of graffiti in the first gangs in Los Angeles, today I recommend this set of several photos of NY in 1983.

The set contains a variety of pictures of street art as it was in NY in the 80s, in they can see many of the real roots of graffiti, because NY is one of the two "capitals" of the urban art world, the other is Barcelona.

I highly recommend this set if you unplug know a little more than the beginning of graffiti, this is the link: New York 1983
